Silver Belen is a versatile Filipino creative, known both for his pioneering work in fashion filmmaking and his impressive career as a commercial director. A self-taught multimedia artist with a passion for rhythm, Silver's artistic journey began with the saxophone, inspired by his father's love of jazz. After earning a degree in communications, he ventured from his hometown in Laguna to Manila, where he embarked on his path in the world of visual storytelling.

 

His journey took a transformative turn when he joined a prestigious documentary production house as an editor, where he realized that his love for rhythm could be expressed through visual storytelling. Studying the silent films of Charlie Chaplin, Silver was captivated by the power of storytelling through movement, even in the absence of words. This revelation led him to embrace a new instrument: the camera.

 

With unwavering determination, Silver delved into directing, making a name for himself in the public affairs program of one of the largest TV networks in the Philippines. There, he collaborated with fellow creatives, exploring innovative ways to convey stories, ultimately resulting in the creation of his debut short film, Kanluran.

 

However, Silver's quest for artistic expression continued. He sought a medium that could seamlessly merge his musical pulse with moving images, and he discovered his perfect match in fashion filmmaking. As a well-known commercial director, Silver became the go-to choice for prominent brands in the Philippines, crafting compelling ad campaigns and digital videos for Maybelline Philippines, Keds, SM, and the Department of Tourism.

 

His creative genius extended beyond the world of commercials, as he lent his directorial prowess to music videos for acclaimed artists like JK Labajo, Gloc 9, Sitti, and Ebe Dancel. Unbeknownst to many, Silver also wore the hat of a music producer on days when he wasn't behind the camera. His boundless creativity flowed into the creation of original soundtracks (OSTs) and jingles for various advertisements, films, and brands.

 

Ever adventurous and creative, Silver Belen is now expanding his music career, writing and producing more original songs that promise to infuse new funk and flavor into everyone's playlists.
